Airport Assistance Services

Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) —Montréal, Québec, Canada

Fast Track Assistance

Airport Assist operates at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, where it provides fast-track support at CATSA security checkpoints — particularly useful during the morning rush between 6 and 9 AM, when the single shared checkpoint (Checkpoint A, for all domestic and international departures) tends to back up. Travellers unfamiliar with the layout, or those with tight connections, benefit most from the service.

Meet and Greet

Airport Assist Meet and Greet service begins at the terminal entrance or curbside drop-off, depending on your arrival point. A dedicated host assists with check-in navigation, the walk through security, and onward guidance to your departure zone — particularly helpful for first-time visitors to YUL who are not yet familiar with the single-terminal layout and its zone separations.

Lounge Access

YUL has a well-developed lounge ecosystem spread across all three zones. Airport Assist helps eligible travellers access the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (domestic and international), the Aspire Amex Lounge (domestic, between Gates 1 and 2), the Aspire International Lounge (near Gate 52), the National Bank Lounge (international zone, currently undergoing renovation with a temporary lounge operating from August 2026), and the Desjardins Odyssey Lounge (international zone, near Gate 63). Access conditions vary by zone, airline, and card membership.

VIP Airport Assistance

VIP Airport Assistance covers the full curb-to-gate journey. Airport Assist coordinates check-in, security flow, and gate transfers, which matters at YUL during peak international departure windows when the shared Checkpoint A can become a bottleneck for business and premium passengers.

Family & Special Needs

Airport Assist simplifies travel with children or passengers with reduced mobility at YUL. Staff coordinate wheelchair access, assist through security, and provide guidance to the correct departure zone — particularly useful given that domestic, transborder, and international passengers all pass through different parts of the same building.

Baggage & Porter Help

Porter help is practical at YUL given the curbside volume and the walk between the drop-off areas and check-in desks. Airport Assist handles baggage from arrival through to check-in counters or ground transport connections.

Transit Assistance

Transit Assistance helps passengers navigate gate changes, zone transitions, and security re-entry — especially important at YUL, where travellers connecting from international to domestic flights must re-clear customs, collect checked bags, and recheck before proceeding to the domestic zone. This is a process that catches many first-time transit passengers off guard.

Layover & Connection Tips

  • YUL is a single terminal with three distinct zones — Domestic, International, and Transborder (USA). Crossing between zones generally requires exiting security and re-entering.
  • All domestic and international departures share Checkpoint A; US-bound passengers use Checkpoint C, which includes US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance before boarding.
  • International arrivals clear Canadian customs on the ground floor of the terminal before exiting into the public arrivals hall.
  • Need rest? Use sleep pods or airport hotel – DXB has Sleep ’n Fly pods, Sleepover lounges, and an in-terminal airport hotel suitable for long waits.
  • Peak security times run from 6–9 AM; midday and early afternoon are typically lighter.
  • YUL has an on-site option for overnight layovers — the Montréal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is directly connected to the US departures pier with soundproofed rooms, a pool, and a 24-hour fitness facility.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal and is generally reliable.
  • Lounge access is strongest in the International zone; the Domestic zone gained its first Aspire Amex Lounge in July 2025.
  • International transit passengers connecting to US flights must complete US pre-clearance at Checkpoint C, which adds time; factor this into your connection window.
  • For international-to-domestic connections, bags must be retrieved from customs and rechecked at the domestic desk.
  • For real-time gate changes and delays, airline mobile apps and the YUL app both pull live data.
  • Recommended layover times:
  • Domestic to domestic: 60–90 minutes
  • Domestic to international: 2 hours
  • International to domestic: 2.5–3 hours
  • International to transborder (USA): 2.5–3 hours
  • The best runway views in the terminal are from the International zone — floor-to-ceiling windows in the National Bank Lounge and the Aspire International Lounge near Gate 52 look directly over the apron.
  • Passengers with mobility needs should contact their airline at least 48 hours before travel to arrange assistance in advance, particularly during holiday periods.
